In "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," Quasar answers a distress call and finds the battered Makkari, bringing him to the Avengers' compound for recovery. With Modred manipulating Phoenix in a bid to unleash Chthon, Quasar teams up with Excalibur to break the possession and send Modred fleeing to a faraway dimension. Written by Mark Gruenwald and illustrated by Mike Manley, with inks by Fred Fredericks, colors by Paul Becton, and letters by Janice Chiang, the cover by Mike Manley and Christopher Ivy captures the tension of a cosmic clash in motion.
