Set against the bustling backdrop of what looks like a comic convention, this Image Comics issue of PvP: Player vs. Player makes its guest-star promise right on the cover — "Guest Starring Invincible?" — as a grinning, orange-and-black-suited superhero sweeps a laughing redhead off her feet while a bespectacled blond guy fumes nearby. Ryan Ottley's cover pencils bring real energy and charm to the crossover tease, capturing both the superhero spectacle and the sitcom frustration in one lively scene. Scott R. Kurtz's gaming and geek-culture comedy series clearly had some fun with the world of Image superheroics in 2005.
