Punisher: Frank Castle Max #73

Dave Johnson's cover for this MAX Comics installment is a striking study in dread — a blood-soaked fist thrusts defiantly upward from a rust-streaked barrel, all of it casting a shadow shaped unmistakably like the Punisher's skull emblem across the ground below. The stark orange-and-black palette gives the image a grim, bayou-soaked atmosphere that fits perfectly with Victor Gischler's "Welcome to the Bayou" arc. With Goran Parlov on art and Lee Loughridge's colors inside, issue #73 looks like a deeply unsettling chapter in Frank Castle's ongoing war.
