Prosjekt X #1/1984
In "Det ville landet," the X-Men break free from their prison chairs only to confront Magneto in his icy Antarctic stronghold. As their battle rages, the base's controls are destroyed, unleashing a flood of lava that threatens to consume them all. With the team scattered and the ground collapsing beneath them, Phoenix makes a desperate move to save Beast—leaving the fate of the others uncertain in the molten depths below the frozen wastes.
In the frozen wastes of Antarctica, Beast and Jean barely survive a mission gone wrong, only to face a heavier burden: delivering the grim news that the X-Men are gone. Back in the wilds of the Savage Land, the surviving mutants find temporary refuge among the Fall People, seeking peace amid the chaos. But as tensions rise, Lykos begins to draw power from Storm—transforming once more into the ancient menace Sauron.
In "Sauron den onde," the X-Men confront the menacing Sauron, only to see him transform into the seemingly reformed Karl Lykos. As tensions rise, Ka-Zar arrives and reveals a dangerous past involving Zaladane and the awakening of the ancient Garokk. With the way back to the surface sealed by encroaching ice and the Savage Land shifting into chaos, Cyclops faces a difficult choice—stay and risk Xavier’s safety, or retreat and leave the wilds behind.
