In "Rocks and Hard Places," Promethea—known here as Bill—guides Sophie through the mysteries of the pentacle, warning her of the perils that come with too deep a connection to the physical world. As Mayor Baskerville and Benny Solomon reach the hospital, the Painted Doll unleashes a Teddy Bomb into the crowd, sending shockwaves through the scene. Written by Alan Moore and illustrated with striking detail by J. H. Williams III and José Villarrubia, with inks by Mick Gray, colors by Jeromy Cox, and letters by Todd Klein, the cover by Williams III and Gray captures the tension perfectly.
