This French-language Urban Comics collection of Alan Moore and J.H. Williams III's Promethea — "Livre Deuxième" — announces itself with a cover that is all dark ritual and careful design. Against a deep black field, David Laranjeira arranges a central goat-head sigil within a star and circle, surrounded by a ring of occult and astrological symbols — scorpion, serpent, bull, cephalopod, and more — while a radiant sun face crowns the composition at the top. The result is a confident, beautifully restrained piece of esoteric graphic design that perfectly suits one of comics' most imaginatively mystical series.
