Promethea #14 (June 2001) from Alan Moore, J. H. Williams III, and Mick Gray carries one of the most hauntingly beautiful covers of the series — a cool, moonlit blue composition showing Promethea herself in profile on the right, staff in hand, gazing toward a ghostly caduceus-like figure that shimmers in the center, while a hooded, robed figure holding a scythe stands watch on the far left beneath a radiant full moon. The subtitle "Moon River" promises a journey with a lyrical, otherworldly quality that perfectly matches the ethereal mood of the cover art. This is America's Best Comics storytelling at its most quietly mesmerizing.
