Promethea #1

Williams III's acclaimed series, introducing the world of Promethea—a living storybook character who manifests in modern-day New York through college student Sophie Bangs. As Sophie learns to wield the power of imagination and navigate the realms of myth and magic, the story blends superhero adventure with philosophical exploration of creativity and the nature of reality.
"The Radiant, Heavenly City" launches Alan Moore’s ambitious, visually stunning series with a dreamlike encounter that blurs reality and myth. As Sophie seeks answers from the enigmatic Barbara Shelley, a sudden attack forces a desperate transformation—when imagination becomes a weapon, and a new Promethea is born in the ancient streets of Roman Alexandria. J. H. Williams III’s breathtaking art, inks by Mick Gray, and color by Digital Chameleon bring this surreal journey to life, with Todd Klein’s lettering perfectly framing the story’s lyrical intensity.
In "The Radiant, Heavenly City," Sophie seeks answers from Barbara Shelley about the legend of Promethea, only to be attacked by a Smee—just as Promethea intervenes, briefly stepping in to save her. When Promethea reverts to Barbara, she urges Sophie to imagine herself as Promethea, or both will perish. With only a poem to guide her, Sophie must summon the power in time to face the threat. Meanwhile, in Roman Alexandria, a small girl takes her first steps toward becoming the first Promethea.
In "The Judgment of Solomon," Promethea finds herself targeted by the temple that once sent her a messenger, now hiring Benny Solomon to eliminate her. When Solomon summons the demons Marchosias and Andras to carry out the strike, Promethea faces them at a Limp concert—only for Stacia to be pulled into the Immateria during the clash.
In "A Faerie Romance," Jo and Stacia dive into the mysteries of Promethea at the library, drawn in by the cryptic writings of Charlton Sennet. As Sophie reads about Anna, the legend of Promethea, she’s suddenly visited by the enigmatic Jack Faust—his arrival hinting at deeper currents beneath the surface.
In a vibrant blend of myth and modernity, Sophie discovers her strength as a warrior in the legendary realm of Hy Brasil, where she aids Promethea—known as Grace—in confronting the dark force Marto Neptura. Meanwhile, Benny Solomon arrives in New York, drawn into a world where ancient magic and hidden powers collide.
