About this Issue

Predator vs. Spider-Man #3 is the penultimate chapter of the third installment in Benjamin Percy's interconnected Predator-versus-Marvel saga — a continuity that began with Predator vs. Wolverine (2023) and escalated through Predator vs. Black Panther (2024) before arriving at New York City. This issue is the first in the series to deploy a full Yautja hunting party as active combatants within the story, expanding the alien threat from a solo rogue to an organized enforcement squad that fights Spider-Man, menaces J. Jonah Jameson at the Daily Bugle, and pursues their own clan-justice against the clanless Skinner simultaneously. That three-front structure — Spider-Man battling Predators, Kraven tracking Skinner independently, and Mary Jane trapped in Skinner's subterranean lair — represents the most narratively complex issue of the mini-series, and the events set here feed directly into the larger mythology Percy would expand in the five-issue Predator Kills the Marvel Universe later the same year.

History

Writer Benjamin Percy had already established this corner of the Marvel/Predator crossover universe through Predator vs. Wolverine (2023) and Predator vs. Black Panther (2024) before turning to Spider-Man; in his own words, he wanted to explore Peter Parker's world and put his 'own wild spin' on Parker's relationships with Mary Jane, J. Jonah Jameson, and Kraven. Percy and artist Marcelo Ferreira deliberately designed the series' central villain, Skinner, as a new type of Yautja — one with no clan and no honor code — to serve as a thematic foil to the idealistic Parker. The series was published under Marvel's Licensed Publishing imprint in collaboration with 20th Century Studios, the corporate rights-holder for the Predator franchise, and was collected in a trade paperback released on September 30, 2025.

Trivia · 8 facts

  • Released June 25, 2025 as issue #3 of a 4-issue limited series; written by Benjamin Percy with interior art by Marcelo Ferreira, inks by Jay Leisten, colors by Frank D'Armata, and letters by VC's Clayton Cowles; main cover by Paulo Siqueira.
  • The issue introduces — for the first time in the series — a full Yautja hunting party arriving in New York City to carry out an 'honor killing' against Skinner, the rogue clanless Predator who has been the series' primary antagonist since issue #1.
  • Three simultaneous plot threads run through the issue: Spider-Man battles the Yautja hunting party inside the Daily Bugle while protecting J. Jonah Jameson; Kraven the Hunter (Sergei Kravinoff) independently hunts Skinner through the city's underground; and Mary Jane Watson attempts to evade Skinner inside his subterranean trophy lair.
  • Skinner, introduced in issue #1 of this series, is a Bad Blood Yautja — a Predator who has violated his own species' code of honor — making him simultaneously the quarry of Spider-Man, Kraven, and his own kind.
  • The issue received a second printing, with a 1:25 Patrick Gleason Black & White Virgin variant accompanying the reprint, indicating reader demand strong enough for Marvel to return the issue to press.
  • The story is set in an out-of-continuity framework described by forum readers as an 'Elseworlds'-style tale in which Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson are presented as a couple living together, distinct from the main Marvel continuity.
  • Predator vs. Spider-Man #3 served as the direct narrative springboard for Benjamin Percy and Marcelo Ferreira's subsequent five-issue series Predator Kills the Marvel Universe (beginning August 13, 2025), in which Kraven, emboldened by events of this mini-series, allies with a Predator King in a full-scale invasion targeting the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men.
  • The entire four-issue series was collected in a trade paperback by Marvel Comics on September 30, 2025.
