Michael Avon Oeming's cover for this fourth chapter of "Legends" pulls you in immediately — a tense, sweat-drenched figure braces as a glowing, energy-crackling gun is thrust directly into their face, all rendered in a moody blue palette that drips with danger. The composition is bracingly close and personal, putting you right in the line of fire alongside the character. Brian Michael Bendis and Oeming's crime-meets-superhero series from Icon was doing some of its most gripping work in 2004, and this cover makes that case on sight.
