Power Pack #60

The cover of this November 1990 issue says it all with its cheeky header — "Teen-Agers? Mutants? Ninjas? Turtles? Nah!" — as the four Power Pack kids strike a dramatic pose atop what appears to be a flying saucer-like craft, clearly ready for action. Rising up from below are two green, wide-eyed creatures crawling out of the sewer, the cover copy cheekily announcing "They Came From — The Sewer!" Tom Morgan's linework sells both the humor and the energy in equal measure. With "Back to School!" as the story title and this gloriously playful cover, issue #60 feels like a fond farewell wink at the era's pop-culture turtle mania while keeping the focus squarely on Marvel's own kid heroes.
