Detective Dan Coffey

Detective Dan Coffey catches a murder call at Wilson Chemicals—a night watchman killed during a vault robbery that netted not cash, but a stolen formula for poison gas. Working the case with his partner Fred Parker, Coffey discovers the theft was an inside job, leading him through a chain of wartime contacts and dead-end leads until a photograph and a tavern owner's tip point him toward a suspect with dangerous connections to the safe company itself. As the pieces fall into place, Coffey closes in on the criminals before the stolen formula can slip out of the country.

Police doctor Duncan Stuart, M.D. springs into action when a store robber collapses under mysterious circumstances, only to discover the man is carrying bubonic plague—the pneumonic form, highly contagious and spreading fast. As a second case emerges and time runs short, Stuart must use every tool at his disposal, from medical detective work to street smarts, to track down the escaped convict before an epidemic engulfs the city. A tense race against disease and time, where one doctor's expertise becomes the thin line between catastrophe and containment.
