BOOM! Studios' 2009 mini-series puts Edgar Allan Poe himself at the center of the horror, and this second issue's cover makes the stakes viscerally clear. A dark-coated Poe lunges desperately across a blood-red backdrop, flanked on both sides by grotesque, monstrous creatures while an ominous crimson-robed figure looms in the shadows above. It's a striking image that channels the dread of Poe's own literary nightmares and promises the remaining two issues have plenty more darkness to deliver.
