Planet of the Apes #11
In this pivotal issue of *Planet of the Apes*, Taylor and Nova ride through a ruined landscape, their journey taking a haunting turn when they witness the explosion of a hidden cave—Dr. Zaius breaking his promise to preserve the past. As they follow the coastline, they come upon the shattered remains of the Statue of Liberty, a shocking revelation that shatters Taylor’s belief in a distant world. Written by Doug Moench and brought to life by George Tuska’s dynamic art, with inks by Mike Esposito and letters by John Costa, this issue’s cover by Ron Wilson and Frank Giacoia captures the moment’s dread in striking detail—a 0.08 GBP comic from 1975 that redefines the story’s stakes.
