Having just escaped the gallows by pleading insanity for a murder charge, Molly's husband tells her he plans to escape 'that loony-bin' and warns her she better be waiting for him. Fearing his threat, she stages her own fake drowning so she could move away and start a new life. Working as a waitress, she meets a doctor and agrees to marry him despite the fact that she was already married. Her worst fears are realized when Roger escapes and blackmails her into leaving Frank despite the fact that she is now carrying Frank's child.
