Thinking she is alone in the mansion after the rest of the staff accompanies the matriarch to the bazaar, a young servant girl sits at the piano and starts to sing. Unknown to her, the family's son has returned on unexpected leave and hears her singing. Despite her status as a servant they soon fall in love, but he is called back to duty suddenly. When her liaison with the son is reported by a jealous cousin, she is dismissed from her job as news arrives the son's plane crashed in Africa and he is presumed dead. Later, she is evicted from her new lodgings when it is revealed she is pregnant.
