In this 2004 Dargaud volume, Fred's signature surrealist imagination is on full display as the cover draws us into a dreamlike scene featuring Philémon alongside a mysterious, wild-haired creature and a crumpled, blue-cloaked figure slumped before an artist's easel and canvas. The warm red-orange sky and fluid, almost liquid forms give the whole image a wonderfully off-kilter atmosphere that is pure Fred. Le Naufrage du "A" promises another journey into the gloriously strange world of the Atlantic Ocean's living letters.
