Peter Wheat and Beetle the Guard discover that a wagon carrying grain to the flour mill has been ambushed and stolen by a band of fierce rats armed with swords and daggers. Peter and Beetle pursue the rats to recover the grain, which is needed for Sammy Sweet's baking, and encounter the fearsome pack at their camp where they must devise a cautious strategy to retrieve the stolen cargo.
