The issue was written by Howard Mackie with pencils by John Romita Jr., inks by Scott Hanna, colors by Gregory Wright, and lettering by Richard Starkings and Liz Agraphiotis of Comicraft, under editor Ralph Macchio and editor-in-chief Bob Harras. It appeared in the newly relaunched Peter Parker: Spider-Man series — one of two Spider-Man flagship titles Marvel debuted with fresh #1s in January 1999 — making issue #11 an early entry in that post-relaunch run. 'The Eighth Day' crossover was a coordinated multi-title effort conceived primarily by Kurt Busiek and Dan Jurgens, with Mackie's chapter serving as Part 3 of the four-part arc that also ran through Thor vol. 2 and Iron Man vol. 3.
