High school students Ted and Sherry become engaged. Their parents object, saying “neither of you is old enough or wise enough for marriage.” However, they give in. Sherry discovers her friends now treat her differently, and she’s lonely because Ted is working part-time after school. Sherry feels “like a prisoner” and breaks up with Ted: “I don’t want dullness!” He says “You’ve done a lot of whining and complaining! I want a real wife, not a spoiled baby!” Sherry’s friends tell her they’re envious that she’s found real love; Sherry decides she’s been selfish. Ted and Sherry reconcile.
