Pep Comics #55

This December 1945 issue of Pep Comics captures everything endearing about Archie Andrews in a single glance — on a cover by Al Fagaly, one hapless cyclist has wrapped himself around a streetlamp (speech bubble and all: "That'll teach ya to stare at girls an' not watch where you're going"), while Archie rides coolly past on his red bike and two girls look on with amusement. It's a perfectly timed slice of small-town teen comedy, and Bill Vigoda brings interior art to "Junk for a Junket," promising more of the same warm, good-natured humor inside.
