Summer vacation is practically bursting off the page in this September 1977 issue of Pep, as a hapless teacher tries to address his class — "Class, I realize this is the last day of school, nevertheless —" — while his students have already mentally (and fashionably) checked out, arriving in swimwear, tennis gear, baseball gloves, and full beach-party mode. Dan DeCarlo's cover pencils capture the cheerful chaos with his signature clean, expressive style, the gang's grins making it impossible not to smile along. A breezy snapshot of end-of-school-year energy from Archie Comics at 35 cents well spent.
