“Dancing in the Dark”

A winter ski outing turns into a trust crisis for Betty in this 1977 issue of Pep, with the cover — penciled by Stan Goldberg and inked by Rudy Lapick — capturing her exasperated declaration that there are "several reasons" she doesn't trust Archie. The split-panel scene shows two young women on skis at the top of a snowy slope while Archie mingles cheerfully with a group of other girls below, making Betty's frustration entirely understandable. The whole Riverdale gang crowds the top banner in their colorful best, setting a lively, energetic tone for this fun slice of Archie drama priced at just 30 cents.
