“That's My Boy”

The cover of this December 1970 issue says it all — one of Riverdale's students boasts about being the first to wear a midi skirt to school, only to be hilariously upstaged by Miss Grundy, who strides past in a cheerful red polka-dot midi of her own, apparently ahead of the fashion curve by two decades. Dan DeCarlo's cover pencils frame the whole gang — Archie, Veronica, Betty, and friends — reacting with delightful surprise in the school hallway. It's a warm, funny snapshot of early-'70s fashion panic, right at home in Archie's Pep Comics.
