Pearl herself dominates this striking Gaydos cover — white-haired and contemplative, hands clasped, rendered in stark black-and-white against a richly colored painting behind her depicting two heavily tattooed figures in an intimate, almost tender embrace. The contrast between Pearl's spare linework and the warm, painterly tones of that framed image gives the whole composition a quiet emotional weight that feels closer to fine art than a typical comics cover. Bendis and Gaydos's Jinxworld series was earning perfect scores across the comics press by issue #5, and it's easy to see why.
