Paranoid Gardens #5

The fifth issue of Dark Horse's Paranoid Gardens delivers one of its most unsettling images yet: a blank-faced monkey-masked figure in pink robes sits enthroned at the center of a gilded carousel, clutching a golden dollar-sign scepter and wearing a matching dollar-sign pendant — carnival royalty with deeply strange vibes. Colorful carousel horses rear and circle around this eerie sovereign, their ornate detail contrasting beautifully with the figure's hollow, expressionless mask. Chris Weston's linework and color work are in full command here, turning a fairground fixture into something genuinely surreal and a little sinister.
