Outlaws of the West #20
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis issue features two Western stories. "Got Gold" tells of Braynee Brawner, a young gunslinger in Minetown, who is approached by railroad president Mr. Kellogg to take charge of protecting a shipment of five million dollars in gold being sent east by train, with promises of substantial payment and a share of the profits. In the second story, "Tumbled Fort," Sag Wheeler and his men attempt to steal a shipment of dynamite from a marshal, planning to use it to blow open a safe, but their scheme is thwarted when the marshal outsmarts them and prevents the robbery.
In the dusty heart of Tumbleweed Valley, part-time constable Al Dudley, armed only with a badge and stubborn resolve, leads a ragtag posse against Curtis Rabb—a wealthy rancher who’s turned his estate into a fortified stronghold with thirty-five hired guns. As the posse advances on the Tumbleweed Fort, Rabb’s men open fire, but Al refuses to back down, revealing he’s already sent a message to the state capitol that could bring troops to break the siege.
In the aftermath of a failed bank heist, Sammy Black escapes the law and returns to the outlaw hideout in Buzzard Valley, where he’s met with suspicion and tension. As he tries to uncover the truth about his former gang and a hidden U.S. Marshal, Sammy finds himself caught in a deadly game of deception and survival.
Sag Wheeler, freshly sentenced to thirty days in jail for disturbing the peace, finds himself on the run after escaping—partly to reclaim his stolen horses, partly to prove his innocence when the real thief, Bob Roklen, brazenly sells them off with a forged bill of sale. With the law now hunting him and a rival marshal closing in, Sag must outwit both Roklen and the system he’s been forced to defy, all while trying to clear his name before the next manhunt catches up.
