Outlaw Nation #7

Vertigo's Outlaw Nation was never shy about its sharp-edged American satire, and Glenn Fabry's painted cover for issue #7 ("Distant Cousins," May 2001) leans right into that. A grinning blonde woman in a stars-and-stripes bikini and nurse's cap perches beside a haggard, wild-haired old man huddled under a blanket — an unsettling contrast of gleaming patriotic imagery and raw human decay. Jamie Delano's writing and Goran Sudžuka and Sebastijan Camagajevac's interior art promise the same uncompromising vision that made this Vertigo series a compelling read.
