“We Sell Time!”

In "We Sell Time!", a test pilot awakens in a surreal realm where a Viking sailor and a mysterious young woman appear outside his cockpit—only to reveal they’re trapped in a dreamer’s world, a liminal space between life and death. As the pilot and the woman race back to the jet, reality fractures around them, leaving him to confront a terrifying truth when she collapses in a room filled with volatile chemicals. Written by Joe Gill and illustrated with haunting precision by Steve Ditko—whose distinctive pencils and inks define the cover and interior—this 2021 issue delivers a chilling, dreamlike journey where time itself feels like a commodity.

A test pilot sees a viking sailor and a young woman standing outside his cockpit. He exits his plane to speak with them. The viking tells him that he has entered a "dreamer's world," where people like him end up when they die. The woman protests that she's not dead, and the pilot realizes that she must be in trouble in the real world. The pilot grabs her by the hand and the two of them make a break for the jet cockpit. Once he lands, she is nowhere in sight, but he finds her passed out in a room of dangerous smoldering chemicals. She revives and recognizes him as the man from her vision.
