Out of This World #21
In "The Green Flame!", brilliant scientist Jorgg Wendt is driven by mysterious voices to build a machine he doesn’t understand—only to discover too late that the signals guiding him come from an alien named Gyrok. Written by Brad Everson and illustrated by John Rosenberger, this eerie tale unfolds as Wendt’s creation becomes a portal, drawing Gyrok and his people to Earth under false pretenses. The cover by Ogden Whitney captures the story’s unsettling tone, making this a standout entry in the Alan Class series.

Jorgg Wendt is one of Earth's most brilliant scientists. He starts building a machine responding to voices he hears. He is unable to tell anyone what he is building as he does not know. He tries to destroy the machine but cannot and faints. Another message comes through. Gyrok tells him that he has been sending the messages and that the machine is a defense machine which he is not allowed to build on his own world. Reassured Wendt finishes the machine but he has been tricked and it is actually a transporter which brings Gyrok and his people to Earth.
