DC's long-running war anthology Our Fighting Forces #173 puts Capt. Storm, Johnny Cloud, Gunner, and Sarge — the ragtag squad known as the Losers — in a heart-pounding alpine escape, rendered in fine form by cover artist Joe Kubert. The cover captures the team clinging to a sled as it rockets down a snowy mountainside, enemy pursuers firing from the slopes above while one soldier calls out to keep moving before they're in range. This June 1977 issue also promises two tales of wartime tension: the lead story "An Appointment with a Direct Hit!" and the backup "Bait for a Tin Fish," with interiors by the reliably skilled team of writer Robert Kanigher and artist/inker George Evans.
