This February 1970 issue of Our Fighting Forces brings together the fan-favorite squad known as The Losers — Capt. Storm, Johnny Cloud, and Gunner & Sarge — for a story titled "Cold Deadly As a Bullet!" with interiors by Russ Heath. Joe Kubert's cover pulls no punches: soldiers descend on parachutes into a vast crowd of armed enemies below, while one figure crashes dramatically through a fire in the foreground, surrounded on all sides — punctuated by the grim declaration, "Now I know WHY we're born to lose!" It's a striking snapshot of the kind of desperate, against-the-odds tension that made DC's war titles so compelling in 1970.
