Jason Aaron's post-apocalyptic romance continues in this ninth chapter, subtitled "A Failure to Communicate" — a title that feels perfectly matched to the haunting cover by Kevin Wada, where a red-haired man reaches out in apparent desperation toward a ghostly, luminescent figure of a young woman drifting just beyond his grasp. The swirling blue-green vortex surrounding them gives the whole image a dreamlike, otherworldly quality that speaks to the emotional distance at the heart of this series.
