Dan Mora's cover for this second issue from Kieron Gillen and Boom! Studios is a striking composition — a steely-eyed older woman stares down the viewer from behind an ornate, jeweled sword, its blade reflecting a host of monstrous, blue-tinted creatures splattered with blood. The tension between her weathered resolve and that glimpse of supernatural chaos makes it immediately clear that Once & Future is weaving Arthurian myth into something decidedly modern and dangerous. Colorist Tamra Bonvillain's sharp contrast between warm shadows and cold supernatural blue pulls the whole image together with real visual punch.
