Olympia #4

Issue four of Image's Olympia fills its entire cover with an extreme close-up of a menacing, sneering face — wild brow, a glinting eye, and a wide, unsettling grin rendered in bold halftone dots that give the image a visceral, retro-pop intensity. Alex Diotto's artwork makes brilliant use of negative space and scale, letting that single threatening expression do all the heavy lifting. If the series has been building toward something dangerous, this cover suggests the tension is very much coming to a head.
