Oh, Killstrike #2

The second chapter of BOOM! Studios' sharp, self-aware miniseries arrives with a cover that says everything about its odd-couple premise: a massive, grizzled, heavily-armed figure dominates the foreground in profile, while a thought bubble reveals a bewildered, lanky ordinary guy curled helplessly inside his head. It's a wonderfully deadpan visual gag — all that imposing muscle and weaponry, and what this bruiser is apparently thinking about is some hapless nebbish. From Bemis, Faerber, and Tumburus, Oh, Killstrike #2 continues to look like one of 2015's most genuinely funny takes on the excesses of '90s comics machismo.
