O.M.A.C. #4

Part of DC's ambitious New 52 relaunch, O.M.A.C. #4 (2012) delivers a cover that puts the pressure on immediately — a desperate civilian is caught between two enormous, crackling fists while the looming blue visage of OMAC glowers from the background, the tagline "No Signal! No Hope! No Way Out!" summing up the dire situation perfectly. Keith Giffen's pencils and Scott Koblish's inks give the scene a kinetic, Kirby-influenced energy, with glowing energy effects and churning water amplifying the sense of inescapable danger. Dan DiDio and Giffen's New 52 take on the character was never short on high-stakes tension, and this issue looks to be no exception.
