Nyoka the Jungle Girl #9

Fawcett's Nyoka the Jungle Girl returns in this July 1947 issue, and the cover pulls no punches — a massive elephant has seized Nyoka in its powerful trunk, pressing her and another figure against a jungle tree in a tense, physical struggle. The cover badge promises "Mammoth Action!" and it's easy to see why, with the sheer scale of the elephant dominating every inch of the image. Inside, "In the Flying Jungle, Part I" kicks off what sounds like a wild new adventure for one of 1940s comics' most capable heroines.
