Nyoka encounters a group of men on the beach and hides to avoid them, suspecting they may be criminals. She overhears them discussing a debt of one hundred thousand dollars owed over six years, and their plan to locate and kill Nyoka to prevent her from testifying. In "Message from Nowhere," Part III, Nyoka discovers strange footprints on a beach and is nearly struck by a spear thrown from the jungle, beginning an investigation into this mysterious threat.

In the Soup
0.67 pp · Humor

Nyoka and Egbert the Explorer find themselves in a tight spot when they learn there are cannibals nearby—and those cannibals have a rather unusual culinary interest in their uninvited guests. This quick-paced jungle humor tale plays the danger for laughs as our heroes scramble to stay off the menu.

The Night Guard
4 pp · Humor

Big Bow lands a job as night guard on a paleface ranch and must prove to Little Arrow that he's ready to handle cattle rustlers—but their back-and-forth about what the job actually entails quickly spirals into hilarious confusion. This four-page humor story plays Big Bow's misunderstandings and puns against Little Arrow's exasperated attempts to train him, culminating in an offer neither quite expected.

6 pp · Jungle
Untitled Humor story
0.5 pp · Humor, Western-Frontier
Double Duty
4 pp · Humor, Teen

Freshman Freddy gets tricked into double duty when he and a rival both show up for a date with the same girl—who's enlisted them to clean out rocks from her yard, with the winner earning her company. When Freddy discovers his competitor cheating by hiring help, he schemes to get his own assistance, but his plan backfires in the best way possible. A clever bit of teen humor that proves outsmarting the competition sometimes means outsmarting yourself.
