The first story follows a character who rents a boat for an arctic expedition and encounters a walrus, which he attempts to bring back home after his companions abandon him, leading to comical misadventures. The issue also includes "Noodnik's Fables," a section with moral tales including "The Bundle of Sticks" about a dying man demonstrating strength in unity, "The Trumpeter Taken Prisoner" about a captured musician spared through persuasion, and "The Buffoon and the Countryman," where a buffoon's pig-squeaking imitation is exposed as a fraud when challenged.
When Noodnik, Dude, and Nuk discover an abandoned ship frozen in Arctic ice, they're thrilled—until the ice breaks up and sets them adrift with no way back to shore. Stranded aboard the derelict vessel with its cache of supplies, the trio must navigate a series of unexpected dangers, from a mysterious walrus with one tooth to a catastrophic accident that leaves them scrambling for survival. A wild rescue unfolds in the most unexpected way when the same one-toothed walrus they were sent to hunt becomes their unlikely savior.
Nuk dreams of becoming a boxer like his hero and sets out to train with the help of a friend who acts as his manager, recruiting sparring partners and even arranging a boxing match against Blubber Boy. When their scheme to win the match doesn't quite go as planned, the two end up with some unexpected earnings—though perhaps not what they bargained for.
