Part of Marvel's 1991 celebration of Captain America's 50th anniversary, Nomad #3 finds its hero in a wonderfully tense spot — standing defiantly in a desert landscape, cradling a baby in his arms while two imposing, large-scale figures loom in the foreground on either side. His speech bubbles say it all: "Fine. Let's do it!" and "Just don't wake the baby!" — a perfect encapsulation of the book's gritty-yet-offbeat tone. James Fry and Mark McKenna deliver a cover that balances genuine menace with dark humor, making this one a hard issue to pass up.
