Scott Snyder and Tony S. Daniel's post-apocalyptic series reaches its fifth issue with a cover that commands attention — a towering silhouetted figure armed with a rifle stands backlit against a burning golden sky, flanked by two massive, clawed creature forms curling in from either side. A group of armored, visored soldiers hunker in the foreground, small against the looming threats surrounding them. Tomeu Morey's rich amber and shadow palette gives the whole image a suffocating, end-of-the-world weight that perfectly captures Nocterra's world of perpetual darkness.
