Ninja Scroll #9

WildStorm's Ninja Scroll #9 (July 2007) kicks off "Musko, Part 1 of 2" with a cover by JonBoy Meyers that puts two sword-wielding figures front and center — a tousle-haired warrior in earth-toned robes holding his blade at the ready, and a younger, red-haired companion braced behind him, both surrounded by the looming curves of enormous blades closing in from every angle. The tension is palpable, with that warm sepia atmosphere and the clash of steel practically crackling off the page. J. Torres and Michael Chang Ting Yu continue their adaptation of the beloved franchise, and this two-part opener promises the kind of high-stakes swordplay that makes this series such a satisfying read.
