Part four of six in the "Year One" saga brings Nightwing and a guest-starring Batgirl together in a dynamic rooftop dive, the two of them leaping outward against a crimson Gotham sky while bats swirl in the background — a cover that immediately signals an exciting team-up. Scott McDaniel and Andy Owens deliver an energetic composition, with Nightwing brandishing his escrima sticks overhead and Batgirl at his side, both in full costume and clearly in their element high above the city streets. With Chuck Dixon and Scott Beatty steering the story, this 2005 installment is a satisfying chapter in one of DC's most engaging origin retellings.
