Newburn #15

Four guns converge on a lone figure standing against a burnt-orange skyline — it's a stark, beautifully composed cover that captures the tension at the heart of this noir crime series. Jacob Phillips renders the scene with moody economy, all deep silhouettes and cool menace, making the unnamed man in the dark coat look impossibly calm despite being completely surrounded. Chip Zdarsky and Phillips have built something genuinely compelling with Newburn, and issue #15 arrives looking every bit as dangerous as the series has promised.
