One story depicts a child falling into water while in the care of a skipper, with the child's mother arriving to assist in the rescue, ultimately revealing the child was only a week old. Another story, "Sailor Saved," chronicles Cornelius Sullivan's heroic actions stopping a man from falling onto train tracks at a rail platform. A third story, "Four Saved by Boy Scout," recounts fifteen-year-old Gerald Davis of Evansville, Indiana, and his companion William Steppo saving four lives at Taylor Lake through swimming rescue efforts, for which Davis received his Boy Scout swimming badge.
