New Avengers #49
In New Avengers #49, Luke Cage finds an unlikely ally in Norman Osborn as they track down the kidnapped Jarvis Skrull and reclaim his child—something even his fellow Avengers couldn’t manage. When Bullseye eliminates the Skrull, Luke severs his alliance with Osborn, setting the stage for a clash between the original Avengers and Osborn’s newly formed, self-proclaimed "new" team. Written by Brian Michael Bendis and illustrated by Billy Tan, with inks by Matt Banning and colors by Paul Mounts, the issue’s cover by Billy Tan and Matt Banning captures the tension of a fractured team and a divided legacy.
