“Echo”

In "Echo," Maya Lopez—known as Echo—meets up with an old friend, Daredevil, only to discover the man before her is a Skrull in disguise. With help from Wolverine, she fights to protect her identity and her place on the New Avengers. Back at base, a quiet moment with Clint Barton turns intimate, setting the stage for something deeper. Written by Brian Michael Bendis and illustrated with striking precision by David Mack—whose dynamic pencils and inks define the cover and interior—this 2008 issue blends espionage, identity, and personal connection in a standout chapter of the New Avengers series.
