Steve Gerber's six-issue Vertigo series rolls into its penultimate stretch with this 1998 entry, featuring a cover by Phil Winslade that's equal parts surreal and seductive. A confident, scantily-clad Nevada perches atop an enormous face-like moon — complete with a smoldering cigar and a worn fedora — while golden stars dangle in the blue twilight around her. It's a beautifully strange image that captures the series' signature blend of oddball fantasy and grounded cool.
