“Never Bet the Devil Your Head”

A sinister figure in red jacket and pinstripe trousers, skull-faced and smirking, stands before a wall of portrait medallions bearing the labeled likenesses of Namor and several others — one spot conspicuously marked "RESERVED." The tagline "Heads I Win..." makes the macabre trophy-wall setup all the more unsettling. John Byrne's November 1990 issue of Namor the Sub-Mariner, titled "Never Bet the Devil Your Head," promises exactly the kind of stylish villainy that cover delivers.
